GRAND CANYON TRAILS
BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL SOUTH KAIBAB TRAIL PLATEAU POINT TRAIL TONTO TRAIL NORTH KAIBAB TRAIL
This collection of photographs beautifully captures a perspective of the Grand Canyon rarely seen by most visitors. The emphasis of the project is to share the experience of what it is truly like to hike the Grand Canyon, while being surrounded by this rugged and spectacular natural wonder of the world. The trail is the main theme and appears in every photo, from wide sweeping panoramas to tightly framed shots.
To complete this project, it required sixteen separate hikes totaling hundreds of miles, capturing thousands of images while carrying a backpack weighing 45 to 60 pounds of camera and survival gear. The trails that have been so wonderfully photographed include Bright Angel, South Kaibab, North Kaibab, Plateau Point and a four mile section of the Tonto Trail connecting the Bright Angel Trail (at Indian Gardens) to the South Kaibab Trail (Tip off Point). There are special highlights of Phantom Ranch, hikers, mule riders and the local wildlife along the trails.
